Loco Translate is a powerful tool for translating WordPress themes and plugins directly from your WordPress dashboard. However, manually translating strings one by one is a time-consuming process, especially when the number of strings are in thousands.
To simplify this process, we’ve developed the Automatic Translate Addon for Loco Translate (Pro). This addon allows you to automatically translate all strings using Chrome’s built-in AI for seamless translations. With Chrome AI, you can achieve real-time translation directly in your browser without relying on expensive third-party API services.
In this article, I’ll guide you step-by-step on how to translate your plugin or theme strings automatically via Chrome AI.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Pre-requisite
- Loco Translate plugin.
- Automatic Translate Addon for Loco Translate (Pro).
Step 2: Translating the Strings
- Navigate to Loco Translate and choose the specific plugin or theme you want to translate.
- Select the desired language, and click Start Translating.
- Click the Auto Translate button
Step 3: Selecting the Translation Provider
- A pop-up will appear. From the available options, select “Chrome AI Translator”.
As this is a beta feature, follow the instructions provided in the Chrome AI Translator API documentation for setup.
- After enabling the options you will again have to click on the auto-translate button. Within a few seconds, all strings of plugins or themes will be translated into the selected language.
Step 4: Merge and Save translations
- After the translation is complete, click on “Merge Translation” to integrate the translated strings back into your plugin or theme.
- Review the translated strings and click on the “Save” button.
